Frankel & Harper, arguably the leading duo to surface from the UK Sound over the past 18 months and founders of the Council Work imprint (now four records deep). Unsuprisingly, lockdown put a hold on collaborative projects for the forceable. It has however made room for some impressive Tom Frankel solo material. Output on Dansu Discs, Constant Sound and Fraise Records has since arrived; all this sandwiched in and around limited run releases on Shellers.
Shellers Vol.2 is the latest physical output on the series, progressing from 10's to 12", quadroupling the units and inviting some familiar faces along in compatriot Dayne Harper, Acid Kids and Ollie Rant & Takjacob.
Matter is the A1 and shows off Frankel's writing pedegree and ability to find the zone in the most difficult of times. This one caught our ears on his socials, a go-to for lockdown creative block and all round positive vibes. Subtle breaks, Dub-style emotives and 2020 chunchie hats provide the texture over this roller-esque stepper; lengthy basslines and intensity throughout.
